Terbinafine is used to treat a variety of fungal skin infections such as, ringworm athlete’s foot, and jock itch. This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs. Terbinafine is an antifungal that works by preventing the growth of fungus.
Use this medication on the skin only. Clean and thoroughly dry the area to be treated. Apply a thin layer of the medication on and around the affected area, usually once or twice daily.
Terbinafine was discovered in 1991. It is on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines, the most effective and safe medicines needed in a health system.
Chlorocresol is the organic compound with the formula ClC6H4OH. It is a monochlorinated m-cresol. It is a white or colorless solid that is only slightly soluble in water. As a solution in alcohol and in combination with other phenols, it is used as an antiseptic and preservative. It is a moderate allergen for sensitive skin.
